Would someone be interested in letting me know why, in this age of worldwide Web transactions, Freedom Scientific is the only company that won't even activate a goddamn serial number for a client unless said client is located in the United States of America? Is it to keep distributors in business or am I totally missing the point? I'll pirate off work and they'll lose my business! Whoo hoo. LOL
I think F.S. are just absolutely paranoid about software piracy which is why they are so reluctant to accommodate those who buy software ligitimately and don't want to drag around these stupid little floppy drives any more.
I know they are working on a web authoritazion system and hopefully it will come with version 6. They've got to replace the diskettes since the floppy drives are becoming very floppy indeed and don't even come standard with some desktops any more.
cheers

Web authorization is coming with 6. But I can't get it by contacting them. I have to contact a company in Canada, and that company will contact FS. That would encourage, rather than deter, piracy if ppl had the means to do it.
lets hope so. any news as to when version 6 is going to be released?
Version 6 is out. FS wouldn't sell me a maintenance agreement. I bought one from Aroga, but I don't know how long it will take for FS to authorize my serial number.
Actually, the web basedd authorization was out in version 5.1. news wasn't available on the site. I have the new internet based authorization on a laptop i got recently.
I too have heard the same thing about 5.1 having the internet autho. I've already had a key installed prier to upgrading so couldn't test it out. But that floppy disk was a pain in the ass. I always had the trouble remembering when I reformatted or left a job to take the key off the computer prier to doing so.
